Español III: Para los padres (For Parents)
Congratulations! Your child is now in Honors Spanish III. This class will push them to really use their Spanish speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and prepare them to continue to Spanish 4 and AP!
Spanish 3 is going to be very different than levels 1-2. This is where your child should really be feeling comfortable with their abilities to communicate by speaking and writing in Spanish. I will be expecting all students to communicate 95% of the time in Spanish. I am looking for effort. Any questions they have in English should be reserved until the end of class (I will give them the last few minutes to address them) or they should come to after school tutoring if they are really struggling.
Yes, they are going to make mistakes. That is how we all learn. I still make mistakes in English, so I will never expect a student to be 100% perfect in their second language. But it will not be enough for them to sit quietly and listen to me speak or to get A's on homework and assessments but never talk. The primary goal in this class is communication! This means listening and speaking. If they ever go to a Spanish speaking country, they need to be able to communicate, so I attempt to create this atmosphere in my class. For 50 minutes, students need to pretend none of us can speak English!
If they are enrolled in Honors Spanish 3, I am assuming (and hoping!!) they want to be here! They need to take full advantage of the short 50 minutes we have together and use as much of the language as possible - both with me and their classmates.

Remind 101
Remind 101 is a wonderful FREE service that allows me to communicate with students and parents through text message. I will periodically send reminders about activities, projects, or other assignments through this service. If you would like to join...
- Grab your cell phone
- Text: 224-365-8646
- Include the message: @wihispan3
- It will send you back a text asking for your name and then it will add you to the list. You will then receive any messages I send to Spanish 3 students. You will not be able to contact me back at this number.
